Winning an honourable mention in the top 1% out of 600+ entries for her WIP A TALE OF TWO GRAILS, Joy is an American-expat, multicultural author who’s lived outside the United States for nearly as long as she lived within it. 

The online writing communities and critique groups that Joy is part of include the NaNoWriMo circles, the Creative Writing Academy based in Canada, and the Gutsy Great Novelist Network led by Joan Dempsey. In college, Joy majored in Theatre Arts, Philosophy, and Religious Studies.

Joy’s primary passions include volunteering for non-profit organisations and studying ancient indigenous religions and cultures around the world, particularly repressed histories and legends. She’s happily married, has a cat named, “Samwise Gamgee,” and she prefers hot chocolates over coffee.

By the age of 12, she began reading Oscar Wilde & J.D. Salinger because she’d already read everything else in the children’s & YA section of her small suburban library. 

By 18, she’d won various awards in short story timed-writing competitions and had a poem published in an anthology. 

She has since traveled through 10+ countries in Europe and Southeast Asia. To her, happiness is an active mediation of giving, loving and serving others while being true to yourself.
